Spleodar Halloween Arts Festival is celebrating 25 years, from Tuesday, October 29, to Saturday, November 2.
With five days of creativity at Nenagh Arts Centre and on the streets of Nenagh, Spleodar 2024 will feature something for all the family, including a selection ofworkshops, performances and spectacles.
The festival opens on October 29 with Barking Dog’s puppet shows, Teddy in the Spooky Wood, and The Whittaker’s Ghost, an introduction to live entertainment for children and their families.
Visitors can also try out Zomba, a Halloween Zumba class at 5pm.
On October 30, drop-in workshops and events will take place at Nenagh Arts Centre, the Plaza and the grounds of Nenagh Castle.
Visitors can try out mandala making with artist Mayumi Nakabayashi, stone-carving with stonemason Philip Quinn, Halloween-themed art workshops with Emma Cleary, drumming and choreography workshops with Drum Dance Ireland, and can watch David Walsh create an ice sculpture.
On October 31, a broomstick-making workshop will take place in the morning, as well as a Halloween-themed games session in the afternoon, followed by the dress rehearsal for the parade at 5:30pm.
At 6:30pm, the traditional parade sets off from Nenagh Arts Centre and winds its way through the streets towards St Joseph’s CBS sports field, for fireworks at 7pm.
On November 1, storyteller Helena Byrne visits Nenagh Arts Centre with storiesof mysterious fairy folk, grumpy monsters and creepy ghost stories.
Guests can also try their luck at the Halloween-themed games show, involving time-travel, treasure hunts and challenges.
Activities will continue on Friday afternoon with a Spooky Circuits Workshop - an adventure into the world of electrical circuits.
Dance workshops with Megan Maher will take place on November 2.
Then in the afternoon, a treasure hunt will take place on the streets of the town, starting from Nenagh Arts Centre.
This all leads up to the Battle of the Bands on Saturday night.
Spleodar has partnered with Music Generation Tipperary to bring guests a celebration of the emerging Rock bands from across Tipperary.
