BREAKING: Tipperary hit with major orange weather warning ahead of tough weekend conditions

Tipperary is among the counties facing significant snowfall and icy conditions this weekend as Met Éireann issues a Status Orange weather warning.

The warning, which highlights the severity of the situation, will be in effect from 5pm tomorrow (Saturday) to 5pm on Sunday.

Alongside Tipperary, the Orange alert also applies to Carlow, Kilkenny, Wicklow, Clare, and Limerick.

The forecast predicts heavy snow, which could result in challenging travel conditions, delays to public transport, animal welfare concerns, and treacherous surfaces for pedestrians.

For those in Tipperary, motorists are being urged to exercise extreme caution, as roads are likely to become hazardous. With travel disruption anticipated, residents are advised to allow extra time for journeys and to consider alternative arrangements if possible.

Meanwhile, a Status Yellow warning for snow and ice has been issued for Tipperary and other regions, including Leinster, Clare, Limerick, Waterford, Connacht, and Ulster counties, effective from 5pm tomorrow through Sunday evening.

In nearby counties Cork and Kerry, heavy rain transitioning to sleet and snow has prompted a Status Yellow rain and snow warning from 1pm Saturday to 5pm Sunday.

Met Éireann warns of hazardous driving conditions, reduced visibility, and potential flooding in these areas.

Tipperary residents are advised to prepare for the severe weather, ensure their homes are equipped for colder conditions, and avoid unnecessary travel during the warning period.
