Noel Coonan TD is encouraging Tipperary youth groups to apply for funding announced last week for youth cafes, youth projects and play and recreation initiatives.
The local TD said his Fine Gael colleague and Minister for Children, Frances Fitzgerald has allocated €2.25 million in capital funding for the nationwide project.
Deputy Coonan said: “This funding will be very beneficial for the development of young people nationwide and also in Tipperary. Minister Fitzgerald is correct in saying that recreation is integral to the lives of children and young people and her Department has actively supported the development of cafés given the considerable benefits they offer for young people to meet in safe drug and alcohol free spaces.”
Further details regarding the application process for the 2013 funding scheme, will be made available by the Department of Children & Youth Affairs in the coming weeks.
