A local councillor in Tipperary has announced that funding has been secured to carry out improvement works on one of Tipperary's most scenic walking trails.
Councillor Máirín McGrath announced the news today, saying: "Great news for Goatenbridge locals and walkers on St Declan's Way - Outdoor recreation funding announced!
"The Tipperary Heritage Way footbridge over the river Tar — a popular spot for locals in Goatenbridge — is in line for some much-needed TLC.

"Thanks to €39,600 in ORIS Measure 1 funding, announced by Minister Dara Calleary this morning and the Department of Rural and Community Development, the bridge will be undergoing refurbishment and upgrade!
"I am personally delighted to see this funding allocated, as it’s something I have advocated for for a long time and worked closely with TCC on.
"This upgrade will ensure safer crossings and an even better walking experience on one of Tipperary’s most scenic trails," concluded Cllr McGrath.
