The stars were shining in Carlow on Monday night as legends of the GAA and a host of well-known names came together for the Hurling for Cancer charity match.

Tipperary were well represented on the night, with Noel McGrath, Jake Morris, Andrew Ormond, Alan Tynan and Brendan Maher all lining out for Davy Russell’s Best. Liam Cahill also played his part, teaming up with Brian Cody on the sideline as joint-manager.
One of the more surprising moments for Tipp fans came when Darragh McCarthy was taken off just ten minutes in, despite hitting two early points from corner-forward.
The 19-year-old wasn’t too bothered, though. Chatting to Balls.ie after the game, he laughed as he shared the tongue-in-cheek explanation Cahill had given him for the early substitution.
