The Rock of Cashel has been confirmed as Tipperary’s most Instagrammed location, according to new research.
The study analysed thousands of tagged Instagram posts across the county’s best-known attractions, using the volume of posts to determine which destinations are proving most popular with visitors keen to share their travels online.
With 59,956 tagged posts, the Rock of Cashel easily claimed the number one spot. The iconic heritage site also performed strongly on a national scale, placing 23rd in the Top 50 Most Instagrammable Spots in Ireland.
Famed for its dramatic skyline, medieval architecture and deep historical significance, the Rock has long been a favourite for photographers and tourists, and the latest figures suggest its appeal continues to resonate with social media users from home and abroad.
Cahir Castle ranked second in the county with 9,499 Instagram posts, while the Glen of Aherlow secured third place thanks to 3,712 posts. Holycross Abbey and the Swiss Cottage also featured in the research, continuing their reputations as enduring favourites for both locals and visitors.
The most Instagrammable locations in Tipperary, according to the study, were Rock of Cashel with 59,956 posts, Cahir Castle with 9,499, Glen of Aherlow with 3,712, Holy Cross Abbey with 1,293 and Swiss Cottage with 6.
Nationally, the list was topped by Connemara in Co Galway with 826,000 tagged posts, followed by the Cliffs of Moher and Dublin’s Temple Bar.
The top 10 also included Glendalough, the Ring of Kerry, Phoenix Park, Wicklow Mountains National Park, the Guinness Storehouse, the Dingle Peninsula and Cobh.
