The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has identified the Suir as one of eight priority areas, noting that only 28 percent of Tipperary’s rivers and lakes are in good condition.
Edward Carr of Arra-Tipp will lead the Implementation Group and encourage local farmers to strengthen their commitment to this initiative. Claire Mooney Teagasc’s Suir Catchment Co-ordinator will work with the local co-operatives, meat processors, and farming groups. She says the project will focus on taking action in specific areas to address the problems identified.
