Tipperary County Council surpassed its 2025 target, delivering more than 170 new social homes. With a 2026 target of 174, the need remains strong: 3,294 applicants are currently approved for social housing in the county, including 808 in the Tipperary Cahir Cashel Municipal District.
Councils have started using a simpler process for social housing projects. Now, projects costing €200 million or less require only one approval from the Department, rather than four steps. Councils will also use standard house designs from the Design Manual for Quality Housing. These changes are meant to speed up the building of much-needed social homes.
