On Friday 1st December 2017, Kilkenny launched its annual Christmas gift wrap charity appeal in aid of The Irish Hospice Foundation (IHF). The official partnership will see gift wrapping stations positioned in all Kilkenny and Christy’s stores nationwide where customers will be able to make voluntary donations to The Irish Hospice Foundation in exchange for having their purchases gift wrapped in store.

The Irish Hospice Foundation is a national Irish charity working for best end-of-life care everywhere, with a fundamental belief that people have a right to die with respect and dignity. All proceeds will be donated to support the charity’s general fundraising efforts spanning across family bereavement support, Night Nurse care, and financial support for families. With 53% of Irish people affected annually by loss of a loved one, the many IHF programmes bring hospice, bereavement care and principles to people where they are – in their local communities, their local hospital, residential facility or the family home.

Kilkenny Group Marketing Manager Kathryn Ryan says; ‘‘We are honoured to work with such an important charity that touches so many people’s lives. We want to give something back to the team of nurses, carers and the team at The Irish Hospice Foundation who look after our friends, families, neighbours and loved ones when they are most vulnerable. Kilkenny Group have a long standing tradition of supporting Irish charities and will continue this by matching all donations raised through the Christmas gift wrap appeal in Kilkenny and Christy’s stores nationwide and donating the total sum to the Irish Hospice Foundation who deliver outstanding work throughout the year.‘’

Deirdre Lennon – Corporate Fundraising Manager, Irish Hospice Foundation says: “Grief is difficult all year round but special occasions like Christmas can be particularly hard for those who are bereaved. It is also a time when we provide vital support for those who are caring for a loved one over the holidays. The gift wrap appeal can be a gift of a lifetime. We welcome this partnership with Kilkenny so that no one faces death or bereavement without the care and support they need.”

The gift wrap appeal comes after Kilkenny group announced The Irish Hospice Foundation as their annual Charity Partner for Christmas 2017. To offer your support or donate this Christmas you can do so in any Kilkenny or Christy’s store or online at
