Insomnia Thurles has been awarded Café & Restaurant of the Year at the AIB Merchant Services Retail Excellence Awards 2022, which took place in the Galmont Hotel, Galway.

This represents the second year in a row that Insomnia has won the Café & Restaurant of the Year category with Insomnia Shackleton picking up the accolade last year.

Retail Excellence is the largest representative body for the retail sector in Ireland and the annual awards programme identify outstanding examples of retail businesses across the country. The awards were established in 1997 to promote best practice and encourage the highest standards in the Irish Retail Industry.

Hundreds of Irish Retailers from all corners of the country entered this competition, with Insomnia Thurles, the only Tipperary business to make it through to the Top 30 stores and final stages of this year’s Retail Excellence Awards. The Top30 were rigorously tested with a financial audit and an onsite visit from Retail Excellence and Echochamber with Insomnia Thurles chosen as Café & Restaurant of the Year.

Harry O’Kelly CEO of Insomnia said: “We are absolutely thrilled that our Thurles café has been named Café & Restaurant of the Year. I am extremely proud of Bozena and her team, this acknowledgment is testament to all their hard work and dedication.

“They have done an amazing job since the café opened a little over 12 months ago, continuously providing exceptional customer service and of course delivering the best cup of coffee to each customer, every single time they visit”.
