It was the boys' turn this week in the National Cup, U12, U14 & U16’s. Our Girls at the same age groups all progressed last time out , how were the boys going to get on, all three were away to Limerick teams.
The U12’s were up against Regional Utd. Played In windy conditions BT harps started on the front foot. Lots of possession but without really troubling there keeper. 0-0 half time.
BT harps came out in the second half and started to dominate. Ten mins into the second half Danny McGuinness pick up the ball and drove into the box and was taken down.
He scored from the resulting penalty. A few mins later regional scored against the run of play. Then BT pushed and pushed for a winner and scored two goals in injury time from Danny McGuinness.
Some great performances from the whole team. Ross Dority , Pierce Deegan, Rory Ryan, Luke Duggan were outstanding but MOTM was Danny McGuinness (3) who was a constant thorn in Regional Utd side. 3-1 final score.

The boys played away to a strong Newcastle team. The boys started strong and within ten mins were one up from a clinical Sean Burke finish from a Tom Collier through ball.
Newcastle came back strong and equalized from a defensive error. Soon after they went 2-1 up from a well taken second. The boys never dropped their heads and every player worked so hard to get back into the game.
This paid off when Larry O’Brien stormed down touchline and crossed to Tom Collier who finished from outside the box into the top corner to equalize 2-2. Tom got a second soon after to go in 3-2 up.
Second half was tough going but the boys started to dominate and could have easily scored more only for the woodwork and close calls. BT held on to the final whistle.
Man of the match goes to Tom Collier but special mention to Larry O’Brien who ran midfield. All the squad worked so hard today. Special thanks to all the parents who traveled and to Newcastle West FC for their kindness and to their team for such a well contested and clean game.
U16’s were up against Ballingarry, in what can only be described as Baltic conditions and came away with a well deserved 2-1 win with the goals coming from Dayle Hogan and Odhran Dalling, there were a number of contenders for Man of of the match but Tommy Bourke just shaded it.
We had two U10 teams out at the weekend; U10 City team lost 4-0 to Arra Rovers at home. The U10 Utd team won 10-3 away to Clodaigh Rangers.
Well done to Club player Lily Anne O'Meara who player on the Munster Schools team that beat Connacht 2-0 this week and Lily Anne also picked up the player of the match award.
