Moldovan ambassador visits Tipperary to discuss trade, tourism and meet local Molodvans

The Moldovan ambassador to Ireland, Larisa Miculeț, who is visiting Tipperary

The Moldovan ambassador to Ireland, Larisa Miculeț is in Tipperary today and will visit and number of areas and meet local tourism, trade, farming interests as well as Tipperary County Council officials.

There are approximately 300 Moldovans living and working in Nenagh, and the ambassador will meet some of them.

The visit was due to start in Ballina with a brief overview of the River Shannon and Lough Derg from local historian Arlene White.

Ms Miculeț was also due to meet Sinead Cahalan, Tipperary County Council tourism marketing officer, and Rosemary Joyce, Nenagh Municipal District Council administrator.

Following a brief stop at the Lookout near Portroe, the ambassador is due to arrive at Nenagh Tourist Office on Banba Square where she will be met by tour guide and information officer Victoria Lee and have a tour of the facility.

Ms Miculeț will also meet local Moldovan children from Nenagh CBS and hear music from pupils at Gaelscoil Urmhumhan.

There will be a civic reception for the ambassador in the Civic Offices on Limerick Road at lunchtime, which will be addressed by local Cathaoirleach Cllr Hughie McGrath; county chief executive Joe MacGrath, county Cathaoirleach Cllr Roger Kennedy, who will and make a presentation to the ambassador; Ms Miculeț will also say a few words.

She will also meet representatives from the local farming community, Nenagh & District Chamber of Commerce and local businesses.

There will then be presentations on Moldova, followed by presentations on local tourism by Sinéad Cahalan and the Tipperary economy by Anthony Fitzgerald

Ms Miculeț 's visit will conclude with a tour of Carey’s Glass on Limerick Road.
