DIARY DATE: Tipperary Drama Festival to return in March 2023

The County Tipperary Open Drama Festival returns to the theatrical scene in 2023 . It will be held March 17- 25, and the Adjudicator is Mr Peter O’ Driscoll.

  • Friday, March 17 Confined Harvest MoonpLAYERS God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza.
  • Saturday, March 18 Open Prosperous Oleanna by David Mamet; Sunday, March 19 Open Holycross/Ballycahill, A skull in Connemara by Martin McDonagh.
  • Monday, March 20 Open Brideview, The Father by Florian Zeller.
  • Tuesday, March 21 Confined Cill Dara, I Do Not Like Thee Dr Fell by Bernard Farrell
  • Wednesday, March 22 Open Hintherland The Playboy of The Western World by J.M. Synge
  • Thursday, March 23 Open, Thurles The Seafarer by Conor McPhearson
  • Friday, March 24 Open, Kilmeen, Blithe Spirit by Noel Coward Saturday, March 25 Open Lifford, When Elephants Collide by Edward Flanagan.

PETER O’DRISCOLLPeter O’Driscoll was an actor, designer and director with Strand Players and many other companies.

For twenty years, he was Head of Drama in St Patrick’s College, Drumcondra.

He had responsibility for equipping and maintaining the very fine theatre facilities there and directed many plays.

He contributed to the postgraduate Theatre Studies programme and ran workshops on voice, directing and acting.

His main work was preparing student teachers to use Drama as a method of education.

His professional work as a lighting designer includes work in the Gate, Olympia and Gaiety theatres.

Peter has considerable experience as a musician; he is a choral director and organist and has directed a wide range of musicals in Dublin and throughout the country.

The Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) has engaged him as an adjudicator.

In the past few years, he directed Hamlet with SPARC, and in the Dublin Arts Club, he has played the lead in a new play about the Czech composer Janacek.

Peter is a member of ADA (Association of Drama Adjudicators).
