The Ursuline hosted a gymnastics competition on Tuesday, 6 December, with students from Thurles and the Presentation Clonmel doing floor routines at beginners, intermediate and advanced levels.

It was a great day, and the Ursuline was delighted to host this event. It is hoped it will be the beginning of an annual or even bi-annual schools competition for the many talented gymnasts around the county and maybe even further afield.

Congratulations to the Ursuline winners on the day, who included Genevieve Ní Bhreacain, who came first in the
beginner’s category and Marta Torrente, who came second. In the advanced section the Ursuline had a clean sweep. In first and third place were sisters Florinéae O’Donnell, Third Year and Rachel O’Donnell, First Year and in second place was TY international student Lucia Huidobro Colera.

All routines displayed agility, strength and grace, and there were plenty of tumbles, aerials, splits, leaps, and handsprings to wow those lucky enough to be spectators. Many thanks to Ms Fahey from the Ursuline, who organised the event, and Ms
Millea, the Presentation PE teacher who, kindly travelled with her team of very talented gymnasts.

The school was also delighted to welcome back retired PE teacher Ms Annette Kelly who judged the competition and was impressed with the high standards displayed by the gymnasts of both schools. Everyone loved the individual performances, which were all so different and impressive, but also the supportive atmosphere created by all the competitors.

Well done to the Ursuline, who were awarded the overall team prize.
