A PSV Inspector has described a car seized by gardai in Tipperary as having the "worst" tyres he has ever seen on a public road.

The vehicle was seized by gardai in Tipperary town for examination by a PSV inspector who described the tyres as the "worst" he had ever seen used on a public road.

The inspector found that the tyre thread had detached from the carcass of the tyre allowing the ply/cords to be exposed. The tyre structure was also found to be deformed.

Gardai have urged motorists to check their tyres on a regular basis and replace if necessary.
