Five injured in Co Monaghan crash

Five people have been injured in a crash in Co Monaghan.

Two women were seriously injured when two cars were involved in a collision at Killarue, Carrickmacross, on Thursday morning.

The incident happened on the R180 between Carrickmacross and Ballybay at around 10.15am.

According to gardai, a female passenger in her 50s was taken to hospital with serious injuries, and the driver of the car, a woman in her 20s, had non-life threatening injuries. 

A female passenger in her 60s in the second vehicle was also taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The male driver, in his 50s, and a female passenger, in her 40s, had non-life threatening injuries.

The scene of the collision has been preserved for technical examination by Garda forensic collision investigators.

Gardai in Carrickmacross are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.

“Any road users who were travelling in the area of Killarue, Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan, today, Thursday October 19 2023, between 9.30am and 10.30am, and who may have camera footage (including dashcam), are asked to make this available to gardai,” a Garda spokesperson said.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Carrickmacross Garda station on 042 969 0190, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”
