WATCH: Irish pub's tear-jerking John Lewis style Christmas advert has viewers 'sobbing'

An Irish pub's heartwarming Christmas advert has left viewers 'sobbing' as they claim it's 'better than any John Lewis or Coca-Cola Christmas ad ever made'.

Charlie's Bar in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh has gone viral across social media after releasing its Christmas-themed video showcasing the importance of the pubs in the centre of communities across Ireland.

Since being uploaded on Friday evening, the video has garnered almost 400,000 views and 50,000 likes on TikTok, and millions of views and reactions on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter).

The two-minute clip depicts an elderly gentleman with a walking stick leaving his home with a bouquet of flowers, before making his way to a cemetery where he respectfully removes his flat cap, places the flowers on a grave and has a quiet moment of reflection.

The man is then seen walking through the town where passersby don't acknowledge him, despite tipping his cap, as they go about their day.

Outside of Charlie's Bar on Church Street, the man encounters a young couple with a dog who gestures to the man to walk in ahead of them.

Sat by the fireplace alone, the barman delivers a beautiful-looking pint of Guinness to the man while the couple toast hot whiskeys at the bar. The couple's dog befriends the man - jumping up to sit beside him on the seat - before the couple join him at his table.

The couple shake hands with the man, chat and cheers their drinks as the video ending fades to a W.B Yeats quote: There are no strangers here, only friends you haven’t yet met".

Captioning the video in their Facebook post, Charlie's Bar said: "Christmas can be such a joyful time for some and painfully hard for others.

"One things for sure - you’ll always receive a warm welcome when you walk through our doors.

"We will be open on Christmas Day, so if you are alone this festive season, drop in for a chat."

Viewers have united in the comments sections of the posts to declare they are "crying", "bawling" and "sobbing" at the video.

While another said: "Better than any John Lewis or Coca-Cola Christmas ad ever made."
