BREAKING: Cyberattack attempted at major Irish university

An Garda Síochána has warned users to be careful of cyber attacks.

In a reminder to the public, the Garda National Cyber Crime Bureau have reminded the public to not forget about the value of their data - to both themselves, and cybercriminals.

“When connecting online, don’t forget your data has value to you and to cybercriminals. So be careful what you post and make sure you can recover if you are the victim of a cyberattack,” they said.

They reminded users to have a separate and secure backup of date, but to also use a VPN when they are remotely accessing cyber systems.

They further advised: “Don’t respond to unsolicited messages or click on unknown links. Never share personal or sensitive data online.”

“Avoid using public wifi for sensitive or work related activity,” they added.

If you are victim to a cyberattack, you can report it to your local garda station.
