'She saved me': Imelda May remembers pal Sinéad O'Connor

Imelda May spoke about how Sinead O'Connor "saved her" on last night's Late Late Show.

Speaking to Patrick Kielty, the Dublin singer said the late Sinéad O'Connor saved her multiple times.

"She was me pal. We could talk in a way that nobody else could talk to each other," she started. "We'd keep each other going."

"And she saved me. She saved me a couple of times, actually, and she'd hound me till I'd answer the phone," recalled Imelda. "She was just a really good friend, and I loved her so much, you know. She was brilliant."

Patrick Kielty asked: "You're saying that she saved you, in what ways?"

"Ah, there you go, digging away," she joked. "The first time I really got to know Sinead was when I was doing a music show, must be about 12 years ago. She was on it and we'd met before and said hello."

"I was going through a tough time and she said to me, how are you? And I said, fine. And she said, no, how are you? And she spotted something immediately."
