In observance of World Autism Awareness Day, Irish Rail is calling upon its customers to aid in the provision of a Quiet Carriage option on certain services.

This carriage has been reintroduced on all Heuston to Cork services for individuals with autism and sensory sensitivities.

Irish Rail is now seeking the cooperation of its passengers to respect the Quiet Carriage designation. In addition to the Quiet Carriage initiative, Irish Rail has unveiled sensory packs in collaboration with Minister Anne Rabbitte.

The sensory packs contain a range of items aim to mitigate sensory overload and enhance the travel experience for passengers with autism. These packs contain ear defenders, sunglasses and a fidget spinner.

These packs are free of charge and can be obtained by filling in this form.

The Quiet Carriage (carriage G) is now bookable online and the carriage is clearly marked with purple branding when booking online and also on the outside of the carriage when boarding the train.
