Power banks sold at the popular Swedish stores are being removed from shelves as a safety precaution

WARNING: Fire risk prompts immediate recall of faulty IKEA electrical products

A popular electrical product sold at IKEA is being recalled due to due to a major fire risk. 

According to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), IKEA is carrying out a recall on certain VARMFRONT power banks as they may result in burns to consumers. 

The first power bank's capacity is 5200 mAh. The product is blue, and the article number is 70555647 with date stamp [YEAR/WEEK] 2318, 2319 or 2322.

The second power bank's capacity is 10400 mAh. The product is dark blue and the article number is 10555645, with date stamp [YEAR/WEEK] 2313, 2316, 2318 or 2319. 

There are approximately 498 affected products in Ireland

Consumers are advised to stop using the product and to contact IKEA.

Consumers can return their power bank to any IKEA store for a replacement or full refund; proof of purchase (receipt) is not required.
