Woman arrested after firework is thrown at childcare facility in Dublin

A file is to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions following an incident of criminal damage at a childcare facility in South Dublin earlier this week.

According to reports, a firework was thrown at the premises at around lunchtime on Tuesday - resulting in children having to moved to another part of the building.

While some smoke damage was caused, nobody was physically injured and the damage caused is understood to be minimal.

Gardai have confirmed they are aware of the incident and that an investigation is underway.

"Gardaí received reports of an incident of criminal damage that occurred at a premises in Clayfarm, Dublin 18 at approximately 1:10pm on July 23, 2024," said a spokesperson.

"A woman aged in her 30s was arrested in connection with this incident. She has since been released without charge pending the submission of a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions," they added.

Investigations are ongoing.
