Children choking alert issued over product sold to Irish shoppers on Shein
A safety issue has been identified with a children's product sold on Shein marketplace which is popular with Irish shoppers, the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has said.
The alert relates to a magnetic chess game sold on the platform and the CCPC says the risk presented by this product is is that of possible injuries.
"If the high-powered magnets are swallowed by a child, the magnets can connect to one another in the abdomen which may lead to serious injuries including intestinal holes and blockages," they warned.
The bar code for the game is B240531190145-1. The brand, batch number and type/number of models are Unknown.
"There are approximately 21 affected products in the Republic of Ireland. The product was sold by third-party seller, Wenzhou Donghui Huating Industry Co. Limited on Shein marketplace," the CCPC confirmed.

Advising people who purchased the product, they said: "If you purchased one of these products, please stop use immediately, discard the product, and keep it out of the reach of children.
"If consumers wish to contact Shein for a refund or have any concerns or questions about this product, please email Shein customer services at eurcsteam@shein.com."
