A teenager has been arrested by gardai investigating a fatal road collision in Dublin earlier this year.

A pedestrian died in the early hours of the morning on July 17 on the coast road in Baldoyle, Dublin 13.

Michael Farrelly, who was aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene and at the time gardai said the vehicle which struck him 'failed to remain at the scene'.

A major investigation was launched following the fatal incident culminating in an arrest being made this Monday morning

"Gardaí have arrested a man as part of the investigation into the fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the coast road in Baldoyle, Dublin 13 in the early hours of Wednesday morning, July 17, 2024," read a statement issued by the Garda Press Office.

"The man, aged in his late teens, is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in Dublin," it added.

Gardai say investigations into the incident are ongoing.
