Gardaí caught an e-scooter rider doing three times the speed limit in poor conditions on a busy road on Tuesday evening.
Gardaí clocked the e-scooter travelling over 60km/h while "weaving in and out of traffic in heavy fog" in Tralee, Co Kerry.
Laws passed earlier this year restrict e-scooters to a maximum speed of 20km/h, a maximum power output of 400W or less, and a maximum weight of 25kg.
"Kerry R.P.U. detected driver of this E-Scooter travelling in excess of 60km/hr in Tralee this evening, weaving in and out of traffic in heavy fog.
"Vehicle detained and fixed charge notice to issue for driver exceeding the maximum permitted speed of 20km/hr," a garda spokesperson confirmed.
