The Irish Coast Guard was called in to help transport much needed equipment to those still left without water on Inishmaan following Storm Éowyn.

The ICG's Rescue Helicopter 118 airlifted a massive 1.2 tonne generator to the island, followed by a second lift of a 1.2 tonne fuel bowser.

As thousands across the country remain without power and water following last Friday's historic storm, the ICG's rescue efforts have been welcomed by many on the island.

One person commented on Facebook: "Great to see at last." Another praised the ICG's heroic work, saying: "Keep up the good work and get the critical infrastructure back up and running."
