More than a dozen motorists are facing prosecution before the courts arising from the seizure of several vehicles during a major  garda operation in Dublin.

Highlighting the operation on social media, gardai say they were 'kept busy' while deployed in the Ballymun area of the capital on Monday night.

A total of 15 vehicles were seized after multiple offences were detected.

"This includes unaccompanied learner drivers, one vehicle that had no tax for over 1,000 days, and several cars that had no tax," read the post on social media which added that court proceedings have been initiated in relation to each of the vehicles.

Photographs posted on Facebook and X show a number of cars being removed from the area on a recovery truck, including a Honda, a Nissan and a Volkswagen.

A number of social media users criticised Monday's  operation saying there are other things they believe that gardai should be focussing on.
