Investigation into death of Josephine Ray referred to Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission

Man and woman arrested in Nenagh released without charge over the weekend

Gardaí in Nenagh continue to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman, whose body was discovered at a residence at St Joseph's Park, Nenagh, county Tipperary, on the afternoon of Sunday 4th August 2024.

Over the weekend, a man and woman were arrested in relation to the investigation but both have since been released without charge.

Now, in the latest update to the circumstances surrounding the death of Josephine "Josie" Ray, Gardaí have shared a statement that reads: "As members of An Garda Síochána had engaged with people resident at a property where a women subsequently died in suspicious circumstances, An Garda Síochána has referred this to GSOC for potential investigation."

The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) is an independent statutory body, established under the Garda Síochána Act 2005 and set up in 2007. It replaced the Garda Síochána Complaints Board. Its aim is to provide efficient, fair and independent oversight of policing in Ireland.
