'A devastating loss' - Tributes paid as young Tipperary woman to be laid to rest

Tributes have been paid following the devastating death of young woman Mayia Kate George, late of Tiermoyle, Templederry, Nenagh, Co Tipperary & Greystones, Co Wicklow.

Mayia passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025. She is predeceased by her beloved Grandfather Pat Creagh & her uncle Stephen George.

Mayia will be very sadly missed by her loving parents Patricia (Creagh) & Billy George brothers Oscar & Rocco. Her grandparents Margaret Morrissey & Dessie Ryan and Trudy & Richard George.

Aunt Frances Creagh & her husband John Roche and her Uncle Peter George & his wife Therese Carroll. Cousins Sam, Isobel, Chloe & Tadgh. Grand-aunts, grand-uncles relatives neighbours & her loyal circle of friends.

Heartfelt condolences were left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Mayia, with one mourner writing,

"So sorry to hear the sad news about Mayia truly unbelievable, please accept and pass on our family condolences. Broken hearted for you all."

Another wrote,

"I am so deeply sorry for your heartbreaking loss. There are no words that can ease this pain, but please know that you are surrounded by love and support during this unimaginable time."

While another wrote, 

"Georgie, if you could read these you’d have known how much you were truly loved and cared for by so many. I spent many of my happiest teenage moments with you and your brothers, both in the UK & the summer I visited the house in Ireland before you moved back.

"Your family gave me the sibling experience that I missed out on in my own life and I miss those family meals around the table. I always will carry so much love for you Georgie. I’m so so sorry."

Funeral Arrangements

Mayia arrived at St Mary of the Rosary Church, Nenagh on Wednesday for Requiem Mass at 2pm.
