Bournea Historical Society held its Annual Historical Outing on Saturday, July 12, in the town of Cahir in South Tipperary.
On the hottest day of the year so far, the group began their tour at the Swiss Cottage on the banks of the River Suir.

Described as an idyllic fantasy of country living, they say it lived up to expectations.
This was followed by a visit to Cahir Farmers Market which they say was well worth a visit.
The group then met with PJ O’Meara of Cahir Historical Society, who gave them a wonderful tour of the town of Cahir including the Mall, the Viaduct and the HaHa.
He spoke about Cahir during the times of the landlords and during the War of Independence and Civil War.
The group would like to take the opportunity to thank PJ for his insightful tour.

Then it was on to Cahir House Hotel for dinner.
After that, they visited Cahir Castle, which they say was the highlight of the day.
The group finished their daytrip by getting 99s and enjoying them by the River Suir.
