Tipperary's Cllr John Carroll 'disappointed' no Garda superintendent appointed in Nenagh

Nenagh-based Cllr John Carroll has expressed his disappointment at what he said was "the very long delay" in appointing a Garda superintendent for the Nenagh Garda District.

Cllr Carroll pointed out that the the district is one of the biggest in the country, stretching from the Galway and Offaly borders to the Limerick border , and also taking in Roscrea District.

Cllr Carroll said he was disappointed that the previous superintendent had retired since early September 2017, and, to date, no replacement appointment had been made.

He said that he was Concerned that the Government was sending out the wrong message with regards to insufficient policing to Gardai in the large Garda District.

"We are already very low in Garda numbers across the district, which is a cause of great concern for the general public at a Time when rural crime is ever increasing throughout the county," he said.
