Tipperary deaths: Tributes paid to former Nenagh AFC player Gerry Cullen

Tributes have been paid to former Nenagh AFC player Gerry Cullen who passed away this Monday.

The late Mr Cullen, Ballygraigue and formerly of Belfast, came to Nenagh to work in the mines in Silvermines.

He was regarded as a very talented footballer and joined Nenagh AFC.

The club paid tribute to him this Monday on its Facebook page, saying all at the club were deeply saddened by his passing.

The club said he was a "great club man and friend".

"Gerry was one of the best centre forwards the club has ever had," they said.

Mr Cullen was involved in the club at many levels over the years.

The club extended its sympathies to Gerry's son Paul, another great club man, to his family and his friends.

"Our thought s are with you all. A sad day for the blues. Bed of Heaven to you Gerry," they said.

Gerry was predeceased by his loving sons Sean, who died in an accident 22 years ago, and baby Dominic, and was beloved husband of Moira and loving father of Vanessa and Paul.

He will be sadly missed by his heartbroken family; sisters Maureen, Irene and Anne; son-in-law Tommy; grandchildren Leagh and Sam; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing on Wednesday 6th at his home, (E45 D320), from 3pm until 7pm. Funeral arriving on Thursday to St. Mary of the Rosary Church Nenagh for Requiem Mass at 12 noon followed by burial in Lisboney cemetery. Family flowers only, donations if desired to North Tipperary Hospice.
