AS many as 40 jobs throughout County Tipperary could be at risk following the collapse of Xtra-vision. The DVD and music rental and game store company, which employs over 1,000 across Ireland, went into receivership this Monday.

The company has outlets in Thurles, Nenagh, Roscrea, Cashel, Clonmel and Tipperary Town. It closed its store in Cahir in August 2012.

A staff member told the Star that they had been instructed not to talk to the media and referred all media enquiries to receivers Earnst & Young, who are now running the company on a day-to-day basis.

However a spokesperson for the receivers said they had been instructed not to reveal how many staff were employed by Xtravision in individual stores.

The receivers are hoping to find a buyer for the stricken retailer.
