'The kindest person that I have ever known' - Tributes pour in for Tipperary mother-of-two

The community of Clonmel, Co Tipperary has been left in shock following the untimely death of a local mother of two.

Rebecca ‘Beccy’ McGrath of William Street, Clonmel and formerly of Oakland Drive, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary passed away on Tuesday, December 10, according to her death notice on RIP.ie. 

Tributes have poured in for Beccy who was reported as missing and was later recovered by Carrick-on-Suir River Rescue in Kilsheelan.  

Beccy is survived by her sons Ajay and Alex, her father Pat, her mother Mellissa, her brothers Patrick, Eddie, Adam, Michael, and Jamie, her sisters Caragh, Megan, Paige, and Shannon, her grandfather Eamon, and her aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

A well-regarded figure in her local community, many have shared their condolences with Beccy's family online and expressed their admiration and fondness for her.

Among the many condolences, people have described Beccy as a "kind person" with “the biggest heart".

On her RIP.ie notice, one person wrote: "So sad to hear of Beccy’s passing, a beautiful young lady with the biggest heart. Sincere condolences to Ajay, Alex, Pat, Melissa and their families. I hope you're at peace Beccy and have the softest bed in heaven.”

Another shared: "Rest in eternal peace Beccy, the memories of growing up in Oakland Drive will be memories I’ll never forget. I hope you’re at rest now. Sending love and prayers to your two boys, your parents and all your brothers and sisters.”

A third tribute read: “Beccy you were the kindest person that I have ever known, you never forgot a birthday. For the 11 yrs I have known you, we had some great times. Wish we could have more of those times, sleep well Beccy, you will be deeply missed.

Beccy’s repose was held at O’Donoghue’s Funeral Home, Kickham Street, Clonmel on Friday, December 13. Her requiem mass took place on Saturday at SS Peter and Paul’s Church, Clonmel followed by burial in St Patrick’s Cemetery where family, friends and the wider community gathered to pay their respects.
