RIP: Laois crash victim named locally

A young man who died in a crash on the Tipperary/Laois border has been named locally as Colm Lynch O’Sullivan. 

He tragically lost his life in a single car collision on the R445 between Borris-in-Ossory and Roscrea at Ballaghmore at around 3.15am in the early hours of June 26. 

Mr Lynch O’Sullivan, who was in his early 20s and from Cloncourse, Ballaghmore, is survived by his parents Olive and Con.

His death notice was published this Thursday afternoon. It states that he is pre-deceased by his sister Grace. Dearly loved son of Olive and Con.

Sadly missed by his brothers Brendan and Tómas, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, niece, extended family and all his friends. His funeral details will be published later.

The road between Borris-in-Ossory and Roscrea reopened at lunchtime on Thursday. It had been closed for a number of hours while gardaí examined the scene of the tragic crash.  

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the fatal single-vehicle collision at Ballaghmore. Emergency services were alerted to a collision on the R445 at approximately 3.15am. Mr Lynch O’Sullivan was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the area between 3am and 3.30am are asked to make it available to Gardaí.
