Republic of Ireland's Euro 2025 dream is over following a 2-1 defeat to Wales in the Aviva on the 3rd of December.

This was the second leg of the play-off with Ireland and Wales held to a 1-1 draw in the Cardiff City Stadium last week.

Republic of Ireland's Ruesha Littlejohn has called for an overhaul in how women's football is coached in Ireland.

"In Irish football, we need to look at the grassroots," She said. "Change our game, change our style. Look at the best teams, they're all so comfortable on the ball.

"I think that's the journey we're on now and it starts with the young ones. Everyone has to get more better on the ball.

"Yeah we can be hard, we can be resilient, we put our bodies on the line. Yeah we have Megan's throws and we have big girls who can win headers, but if we need to go to these big tournaments we need to do more."

Ireland head coach, Eileen Gleeson had this to say following the match

"We wanted to do the country proud, we wanted to get to Euro 2025 and we haven't . It's devastating.

"Overall, we dominated, 17 shots to six. We had chances in the first half we should have done a lot better with and goals win games.

"It [Wales' goals] is a peno and one break from a long kick where we were probably a little bit too high on one side.

"We should do better in those moments but if you take your chances then you come away with a different result.

"It's a blow but we have to build again and go again."
