Liverpool v Manchester United: Preview, time, team news and all you need to know

An iconic match-up takes place at Anfield on Sunday as Liverpool and Manchester United go head to head in the Premier League.

PREVIEW

Both teams come into the league contest in contrasting form.

Hosts Liverpool defeated Wolves 2-0 at Anfield during the week to keep them in contention for a top four spot while recently crowned Carabao Cup champions Man United remain in third - ten points ahead of Jurgen Klopp's side.

Ahead of the Merseyside encounter, the Reds boss said: "They [Man United] deserve it, they deserve where they are. They won the points, they played good football like all the others as well.

"This is not where we are this year but we were there the last few years and we want to go there again, 100 percent.

"But apart from that, I couldn’t be less interested in what they are doing. I just respect what they do and then I analyse it.

"We have our own targets and, yes, it would be a boost (for our top-four chances), 100 percent, but we have to make sure we really show that it is still incredibly difficult to play against us.

"When we played there (in a 2-1 defeat in August) it looked incredibly difficult to play against them, but we have to make sure they realise again it is not a joy to face us."

Meanwhile, United manager Erik ten Hag remarked: "I know these players, my squad, my team, will be prepared to go there and fight and to go there with confidence. We know it’s going to be difficult, we know we will have to suffer and we will have to sacrifice to get a good result.

"I think our team, our mentality in general is very good. I think we also have many leaders who set the mentality, who set the standards, who control the standards, who correct if necessary. I think we are happy with this process but it can always be better. That has to be the approach."

TIME

The game kicks off at 4.30pm on Sunday, March 5.
