FBD Insurance Intermediate Hurling Championship Final

Moneygall 2-21

Ballingarry 4-14

Moneygall withstood a late Ballingarry surge to come out on the right side of a magnificently exciting FBD Insurance Intermediate Hurling Championship Final in Templetuohy on Saturday afternoon, and in the process, the North club were crowned county champions.

Leading by 10 points at one point in the final ten minutes, Moneygall very nearly let it slip late on. Goals from substitutes Aidan Ryan and Eoghan Pollard brought the game back to a single point deep in injury time, and with Kevin Jordan giving another play after that 64th-minute Pollard goal, Ballingarry had a chance to level it.

However, Moneygall held firm to get their hands finally on the Michael Maher Cup with Sean Kenneally (1-5) and Joe Fogarty (0-11) the match winners on the day and they will be extremely relieved to have gotten the job done after coming so close in recent years.

After the game, captain Paddy Fogarty lifted the Michael Maher Cup on behalf of the team.
