As part of Operation Tombola, an initiative targeting the illegal supply of fireworks, Gardaí in Tipperary carried out a series of searches in Roscrea on Wednesday.
During the operation, fireworks with an estimated value of over €600 were seized, along with a small quantity of suspected cannabis. The confiscated drugs are currently undergoing analysis to confirm their nature.
In anticipation of the busy Halloween period for emergency services, An Garda Síochána has issued a public reminder that the sale, possession, and use of fireworks are illegal in Ireland.
They emphasized the dangers posed by fireworks, which can cause severe injuries, distress to both people and pets and fires if they continue burning after landing on properties.
Additionally, Gardaí highlighted that it is a criminal offence to throw or direct ignited fireworks at a person or property.
They are urging parents and guardians to educate children about the serious hazards associated with fireworks use.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts to ensure public safety during the Halloween season.
