A beautiful candlelit tribute took place this past weekend in honour of Roscrea's Aoife Shelly, a talented 22-year-old who died after a short illness on Sunday, March 30.
Predeceased by her grandfather Paddy, the passionate footballer will be forever missed by her mother Clare, father Joe, her brother Eoghan, extended family and her wide circle of friends and teammates.
Aoife's untimely passing has sent shockwaves throughout the local community. A talented sport star, excellent musician and an even better daughter, sister and friend, it is clear her legacy will live on forever.
Many people in the locality paid their respect to the young woman in anyway they could, with Tipperary Ladies Football retiring Aoife's jersey, number 15, and taking a minutes silence before a throw-out in her honour at their most recent games.

Along with this, a stunning and emotional candlelit tribute was held for the dearly loved 22-year-old, where friends and teammates sang 'Travelin' Soldier' as her family stood, hunched and holding onto each other, beside her coffin.
The wonderful but heart-breaking tribute is a testament to the wonderful woman Aoife was and how many lives she touched during her short time on earth.
Described as a 'radiant spirit' by the Tipperary Ladies Football community, the Roscrea native reposed at Grey’s Funeral Home in Templemore, followed by Requiem Mass in St. Brigid’s Church Clonakenny.
May she rest in eternal peace.
