Tipperary school win Munster rugby Plate after entertaining final

Clonmel High School’s Under 15 rugby team are the McCarthy Plate champions following a high-scoring final against Crescent College Comprehensive, Limerick in Fethard Town Park.

It was an entertaining game, with both teams displaying lots of free-flowing rugby.

The High School scored five first half tries, three from Sean Callery and two from Sam Power, who also kicked a conversion.

Crescent replied with two tries to leave the half-time score 27-10 to the High School.

The High School continued to exert their dominance in the second half with tries from Eddie Lawless and Rory O’Dwyer. Sam Power kicked a conversion.

Crescent battled away and scored four more tries but the High School won the day, the match finishing 39 - 30 in their favour.

Peter Silke of Munster Rugby presented the McCarthy Plate to High School captain Tony O’Brien. He congratulated both schools for serving up a fantastic final.
