Rosegreen staged a late fightback to win the Peter O’Reilly Cup at Cooke Park, Tipperary after Cahir Park had looked the better team for much of the match.

Nestor Kashuba played in Stephen Brabston on three minutes, which was a half- chance for Rosegreen, and on five minutes Jesse Kiely headed against the crossbar from a right wing cross.

Both sides were playing long balls, with Keith Bergin looking a danger upfront for Rosegreen. Jonathan Kennedy headed just wide for Rosegreen on 28 minutes. Kyle Delaney looked impressive for Cahir and was at the centre of all their good play.

Cahir Park had a good chance on 32 minutes when Zach Keating played in David Clifford, who brought a save from Tyler Barry. A flicked header from Jesse Kiely just went wide for Cahir Park on 35 minutes and a shot from Kyle Delaney was saved by Barry on 38 minutes.

A long ball out of defence from Rosegreen saw Keith Bergin bring a save from Bagus on 43 minutes. At half-time it was still scoreless.

Cahir Park went ahead in the 67th minute when Andy Fitzpatrick headed home from a Jesse Kiely free kick.

Kyle Delaney had to go off injured and this enabled Rosegreen to get back in the match, and they levelled matters when Adam Lyons was on hand to force home a Keith Bergin cross.

It got better for them on 80 minutes when a poor clearance saw Stephen Brabston shoot to an empty net, with the ‘keeper stranded.

Rosegreen held out in a pulsating finish and to the delight of their legion of fans captain Jonathan Kennedy received the cup from Tony O’Reilly, as the sun began to set on Cooke Park.
