Clerihan store wins national awards

Celebrations are continuing at Dean and Triona Hand’s Daybreak in Clerihan following a trophy haul at recent award ceremonies.

The store was awarded Best Off-Licence at the Daybreak Store of the Year Awards held at Mount Wolseley Hotel in Co.Carlow on November 17. They were among the 12 finalists selected from over 200 Daybreak stores nationally and as a result are now back-to-back winners of the prestigious award.

The store was then shortlisted for two awards at the Shelflife C-Store Awards gala event in the Ballsbridge Hotel, Dublin, on November 23. Up against the best in the business across all symbol groups in Ireland in addition to well-established independent convenience retail stores, they came away with the Best Off-Licence Award and a bronze award for Store of the Year for their shop size.

“We were very excited after our Daybreak awards night, but considering the high level of nominees in the Shelflife Awards we really did not expect to win,” Dean says. “When our names were read out there was a moment of shock to be honest. There were some real contenders within our category so it was a fantastic achievement due in no small part to our team and loyal customer base both locally and from further-afield.

Dean feels the store’s range and customer service level sets them apart from competitors. “We have a great crew here in Clerihan and I’m confident they really care about customer satisfaction. In addition, the range we offer across the store and especially in our off-licence is very well considered,” Dean adds.
