Cashel Town 2 – 3 Peake Villa
Cashel Town and Peake Villa played out entertaining second half in particular in what was both teams’ final game of the league season at Palmershill on Wednesday evening of last week.
The hosts have already been promoted as champions and with Peake Villa knowing a win would secure second place in the table.
The first 45 minutes had a very much end of season feel about it with both sides struggling to create chances leaving the half-time score level at nil all.
The second half however was more entertaining and Cashel Town took the lead ten minutes in when Callum Meagher scored a great goal with bullet of a strike from distance.
On top now, the hosts went 2-0 ahead ten minutes later when Padraic Ryan fired home.
At this stage it looked like Cashel Town would win the game comfortably. However, Peake Villa rallied and got themselves back in the game 20 minutes from the end, when a long-range strike from Danny Treacy pulled a goal back.
With their tails up now, the Thurles side levelled the game five minutes later when some good work on the right wing saw a ball delivered to Adam Garrett and he rifled home to make it 2-2.
The winner came in the last minute when the hosts were penalised correctly for a sloppy handball and Danny Treacy scored the winning penalty to cap a remarkable win for the Thurles side.
