A large attendance is expected to converge on Cahir Park at 6.30pm this Saturday evening for the Tipperary Cup soccer final.

The showpiece game of the Tipperary Southern and District League (TSDL) pits two of the best teams in the league, St Michael's and Clonmel Celtic, in opposition against each other.

The Tipperary Town team have already regained the league title this season and will be confident of wrapping up the double on Saturday evening. They will also be anxious to bounce back from last weekend's 1-0 defeat by deposed champions Peake Villa, which was their only defeat of the league campaign.

However, Clonmel Celtic won't be going into the final without hope. They had a great run in this season's FAI Junior Cup before losing out to eventual champions Cockhill Celtic from Donegal in the quarter-finals, having defeated another Donegal side, Letterkenny Rovers, in the previous round.

They reached the cup final courtesy of a 4-1 win over Cashel Town in Wednesday night's semi-final, when Sean Brown hit a hat-trick, along with a Darren Sweeney goal.

The referee will be Michael Freiberg, with assistant referees John Lyons and Paddy Keane, and the fourth official is Ger Ward.
