Tipperary's Sharlene Mawdsley  records second fastest 400 metres time of her career

Sharlene Mawdsley returned to action following her recent relay heroics in Rome to record the second fastest 400 metres time of her career, 50.82 seconds, to finish second in the Women's A final at Meeting Madrid in the Spanish capital last Friday night.

The race was won by Belgium's Naomi Van Den Broeck in 50.80 seconds.

Newport AC's Mawdsley will race in the 200 metres at the 123.ie National Senior Track and Field Athletics Championships, which take place at the Morton Stadium in Dublin next Saturday and Sunday, June 29 and 30.
