Dundrum Athletic Club’s 39th annual Coillte 10k was held on Wednesday, July 3.
It was a nice evening for racing, with cooler temperatures than we would normally have for the race and a slight breeze.
More than 300 athletes ran over the Junior 5k and Coillte 10k.
The following are the results for the 26 club members from Dundrum AC who took part -. first home for the club was 11th Eamon Morrissey 34:22, 20th Tom O’Connell 35:52, 21st Dymphna Ryan, who had a great race in 35:53 and was second woman; 33rd Martin Keane 37:17, 60th Gerry O’Neill 39:21, 72nd Linda Grogan 40:00 who was third woman.
In 75th place was Jim Halley 40:10, 86th Val Farrell 40:59, 92nd Michael Ryan 41:21, 94th Paudie Coen 41:25, 96th Catherine Fogarty 41:35 who was second Over 45 woman; 101st Wayne Bargary 41:54, 107th Richard Bresnen 42:20, 114th Tommy Byrnes 42:39, 117th William Keane 43:13, 123rd Karen Coughlan 43:26, who was second Over 40 woman.
In 126th place was Emily Leahy 43:30, 131st Raphael Renard 44:18, 163rd Mairead Julian 46:35, 165th Denise Compton 46:45 who was first Over 55 woman; 181st Shane White 47:45, 189th Aaron Tuohy 48:41, 205th Paul Shanahan 49:51, 223rd John Barry 51:38, 225th John O’Brien 51:49 and 262nd Pat Hayes 57:25.
In the Junior 5k race Dundrum AC had four athletes competing.
First home for the club in a fantastic run to take second place on the podium was Albert Maher 17:56.
Next, we had 9th Ruby Maher 22:26 who was third junior girl. Also running well were 14th Belle Kelly 23:24 and 15th Kate Dooley 23:51.
MOOREABBEY 10 MILE
The Mooreabbey 10 Mile was held on Sunday, July 7 in Galbally.
Dundrum had five athletes competing in the long-distance race.
First home for the club was 11th Gerry O’Neill 64:34. He was followed by 17th Jim Halley 67:47, 25th Tish Ryan 70:34 who was first Over 40 woman; 31st Paul Bradshaw 74:49 and 83rd Pat Hayes 94:52.
Well done to Gerry, Jim and Pat who competed in the Coillte 10k and the Mooreabbey 10 Mile in less than four days apart.
