Aoife McGrath is looking forward to her marathon run in Paris during the Olympic Games
School teacher and Clonmel Athletics Club member Aoife McGrath is heading to Paris 2024.
Paris Olympics have organised a mass participation marathon to take place in Paris during the Olympics on the same weekend and same course that the marathon competitions are taking place.
The night of Saturday August 10 is called Marathon Pour Tous (marathon for all). There will be 20,024 participants in the marathon and 20,024 in a 10k event.
Aoife got her spot in the marathon by completing run challenges on the Marathon Pour Tous app over the last 12-plus months.
Every challenge completed entered her into a raffle for a place.
The course starts at Hôtel De Ville, passes the Louvre , runs along the banks of the Seine and then out to Versailles and back in to circle the Eiffel Tower before finishing in Esplanade des Invalides.
Aoife has been ably prepared for this challenge by her coaches John Laste and Niall O'Sullivan and supported by all her friends in J&N training group on long runs and night time training sessions.
She is wished the very best in Paris.
