The Triple Crown and Six Nations Championship Trophy took pride of place at Carrick-on-Suir Rugby Club’s annual awards night celebrating the achievements of its teams and players over the past year.

The Club's players and their families gathered at the Carraig Hotel on June 3 for the awards ceremony.

Tributes were paid to all players and their coaches who won the Carroll Plate; Munster U-16 Development Plate;  Munster Women's Rugby U-18 League; East Munster U-16 Plate and Adam Burke U-16 Bowl and the Munster U-18 Interprovincial winners,  the Munster U-15 Cadets,  the U-18 Sevens International and the Munster U-18 Sevens.

Club President Donal Moriarity praised  coaches and players for a magnificent season.

He praised Youth Officer Andy Meaney for working relentlessly with everyone behind the scenes and Girls Officer Kathleen Fleming for putting in marvellous work getting very successful girls teams together.

Mr Meaney said the U-13 and U-14 squads were "very brave and skillful" and it was "awe inspiring" to see them play at Waterpark.  The U-16s were amazing young men, whose resilience never waivered even when they were down to 14 men in the final. They still refused to give in, he recalled. The Carrick and Dungarvan amalgamation was a great boost to the Club.

The young players trained and gelled together quickly becoming friends and forming great teams powering to success. The U-18s girls team reached the League final and were 2nd in the Cup, after being narrowly beaten by Listowel.

There are now more than  50 girls in the club and five of them  were on the Munster  U-18s squad this year. All parents were thanked for their role and a special thanks was extended to the Dungarvan parents, who drove to Carrick for all training sessions throughout the season.
