Action from tonights game in Templetuohy
The result means Upperchurch Drombane are out
Sarsfields 1-16
Drom-Inch 0-18
Thurles Sarsfields staved off the stern challenge of Drom-Inch in a Tipperary Water County senior hurling championship playoff tie at Templetuohy this evening to make it directly in the quarter final and remain on course to defend their crown.
In a hard fought, tight affair a second half goal from Conor Stakelum proved decisive for The Blues who led by 0-9 to 0-6 at half time with sharpshooter Aidan McCormack getting the majority of their scores.
But, Drom-Inch came out fighting in the second half and despite suffering the setback of the Stakelum goal in the 10th minute, they were level at 1-13 to 0-16 with fifteen minutes to go - Seamus Callanan getting some fine scores for them.
Sarsfields went behind but edged level and then in front again in a nail biting climax to the game which saw some heavy hits going in between these two great rivals. But, Sarsfields used their experience to hold out for a fine victory - one which could have come at a cost with attacker Lar Corbett going off after just 10 minutes with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.
